The Cataldo Mission is a Jesuit mission built in the 1840's and the oldest standing building in Idaho. If you are a history buff there is a great exhibit titled 'Sacred Encounters' on the first meetings between the local Indians and the Jesuit missionaries. Call the mission to confirm that the exhibit is still open. The mission sits in a small state park on the Coeur d'Alene River, and the drive from the cabin to the mission is very scenic.

The oldest standing building in all of Idaho is found here, in the Coeur d'Alene's Old Mission State Park. The Mission of the Sacred Heart was constructed between 1850 and 1853 by Catholic missionaries and members of the Coeur d'Alene Tribe.
