The Lousã area is graced with perfect road biking conditions with its great quality smooth tarmac roads with little to no traffic, great weather all year round accompanied by amazing mountainous landscapes. Rides will be tailored to each riders level which can be easily established with a 20min power test on our wahoo kickr indoor trainer. Rides will never be boring and never flat, in this part of world roads either go up or down. Come prepared with appropriate gearing! We like to leave our riders at ease to follow their own ride plans if preferred. I can ride along with you or provide full car support, or simply give you some route tips in case you want to go solo. It's up to you.

Countless streams flow from the Serra da Lousã mountain tops down to the River Zezere offering a wide array of freshwater fishing opportunities. Trout fly fishing can be done in local rivers as the Ribeira de Alge, Ribeira de Pêra, Rio Arouce and Rio Ceira. Further down our local stream Ribeira de Alge, Poeiro offers its own river fishing platforn which provides easy access to this remote location. The massive waterdams of Cabril and Bouçã offer perfect conditions for open water fishing. We also have Foz de Alge which is where our local stream Ribeira de Alge meets the river Zezere, consisting of a very open section of water that attracts many lake fishing enthusiasts. The river Zezere it self offers unlimited sections of completely private riverbeds for even the most secluded fisherman´s delight. The fly fishing European Championships were held in 2012 and World Championships in 2006 near our region on River Ceira, Alva and Mondego. A general regional license can be purchased in advance, while the local concessioned licenses can be purchased on the day.

The Lousã district is very well known for its "xisto" villages, old historic villages composed of houses which are exclusively constructed with layered schist rocks which are abundant in these mountain regions (also in the Açor region). We offer transportation to visit these magical villages. The following are located under a 15-50min drive from the cottage. Situated on mountain slopes the villages have organized hiking paths and mountain bike trails around the area which in many cases can be also combined with a refreshing visit to a river beach to enjoy your holiday to the fullest. Explore our local marvels of nature and spend a day relaxing in clear watered natural pools. There are countless wonderful river beaches in the near vicinity of our rural cottage. We offer a transportation service to the beaches listed below for a 5-30 € / trip. These are all within a 10-50 min car drive from the cottage. Our local river beach of Machuca is reachable by foot through amazingly beautiful and wild forest trails. We recommend combining your river beach experience with a visit to a schist village and perhaps some hiking to make a perfect day out. Also ask for a packed picnics to accompany you!
