Toorongo Falls is an impressive, tiered waterfall, surrounded by towering gums and lush ferns. Take the 750-metre track to the viewing platform or hike the 2.2-kilometre circuit (easy walk) to see both Toorongo Falls and the neighbouring Amphitheatre Falls. Dogs are allowed on a leash.

Walk to the top of the hill at the end of Scottys Track, past the water tanks and down onto Tramway Walk. This is a beautiful easy walk which goes for 4km before ending at the Tramway Falls. Make sure you wear decent shoes.

Blue Rock Dam is a hidden gem. An ideal fishing and boating destination as it’s one of Victoria’s premier fisheries for Australian Bass. If fishing isn’t your thing, then you could swim, kayak or just sit on the bank with a picnic and take in the beautiful surrounds.

Just near town

The Tanjil River is a beautiful mountain river, with golden sand, alive with native fish and beautiful rainbow and brown trout. It is easily accessible at the bottom of the hill, back down Mt. Baw Baw Tourist road to the first turn off.

This sleepy mountainside town is now frozen in time. Walk through the lovingly restored centre full of heritage buildings, try your hand at panning for gold or take a tour of the surrounding area.

This sleepy mountainside town is now frozen in time. Walk through the lovingly restored centre full of heritage buildings, try your hand at panning for gold or take a tour of the surrounding area.
Old Gippstown is a heritage centre where you can experience Gippsland in the 1850s. The historic town covers 8 acres and consists of mostly original relocated buildings (dating back from the 1840s through to the 1930s). Walk Old Gippstown, learn about early European settlement of Victoria and see their huge collection of classic horse drawn vehicles and farm equipment. There is a café and they frequently hold events. Dogs are welcome on a leash. Old Gippstown is approximately 70 minutes from Tanjil Bren. http://www.gippslandheritagepark.com.au Open Wednesday to Sunday 10-4 and School Holidays.
