Cozy camping cabin in western rustic style that sleeps up to 6, just minutes from the resort town of Sandpoint, Idaho, and Lake Pend Oreille, on 10 private, wooded acres with views of the Selkirk Mountains, outdoor hot tub and shower, and fire pit.

The cabin is truly a work of art with blued pine, corrugated rusty metal ceiling, and many rustic touches and special details. Located in the heart of the Selle Valley 9 miles from downtown Sandpoint, the property is tucked in the woods and is super private and quiet. The cabin measures 14x14 with a 14x12 covered porch, plus an 80-square-foot loft. This is modeled after camping cabins in state parks but way cooler and with comfortable beds and bedding provided. It is a dry cabin with no running water. It really is camping, or glamping as it's called.

A two-burner hot plate, microwave, toaster over, small fridge with freezer, pour-over coffee maker, French press and electric tea kettle make it possible to make meals on-site. Some guests even cook over the campfire. Water is on-site with two frost-free hydrants near the cabin. We're talking tasty well water here!

Amenities include a rustic hand built outhouse, a beautiful outdoor hot tub under the stars that seats five with a lounge, and a unique outdoor shower and outdoor sink (seasonal use). Please note, guests MUST BATHE just prior to using the hot tub! Use the outdoor shower when in season or take a camp (sponge) bath inside the cabin.

Inside the vintage pine trunk are games, local guidebooks, tourism publications and extra blankets. In the crate under the counter are plastic food wrap and wax paper, matches, hand sanitizer, hand soap, dish soap, a few hand towels and wash cloths, a hot pad, an assortment of condiments, salt and pepper, creamer and sugar. A trivet and basin are hanging on the walls above the counter, and another basin is in the crate below the microwave. Please use the trivet to set hot pots and pans on, and the basins for washing up dishes or taking camp baths. A 2-gallon water container is provided for your use. Please don't leave it on the counter wet as it stains the wood.

The property includes a house and an RV site that allows for the possibility of group retreats. The house is a vacation rental from November through April, and we live in it from May through October. You may see other guests on the property and may have to alternate usage of the hot tub, or you may have the whole place to yourselves. Weekends, summers and holidays are busy. The cabin and RV site share the same driveway and are visible but filtered through trees and fence panels. The house is not visible from the cabin and has its own driveway. The RV site is available April through October, and while it may be sporadic, the site stays fairly busy in the summer season.

Part of our mission is to give people an affordable way to visit Sandpoint. We have accommodations for horses and dogs too for an extra fee.

Outdoor hot tub (shared/alternate use) and shower, fire pit, horseshoe pits. Barn, round pen and fenced area for horses. Walking trail on-site.

Kiti svarbūs dalykai
Guests must read and follow hot tub rules in order to use this amenity. Guests MUST BATHE prior to use, whether in the outdoor shower or by taking a camp bath inside the cabin. Wear shoes to the tub and get in with clean feet. Slide the cover onto the shelf system and handle it carefully. Don't splash or allow horseplay. Do not sit or lie on the cover. Don't eat while in the tub and use alcohol in moderation. Don't spend excessive time in the hot tub nor alter the temperature. Leave it at 102 degrees. Limit users to five at a time. Guests who misuse the hot tub are subject to a cleaning fee and possibly the cancellation of their reservation. A $200 fee will be charged if I have to drain/clean/refill the hot tub and add new chemicals to it.

Dogs will only be allowed if they are kept on leash, are friendly and good with other dogs and people, and are well-behaved. NO letting them scratch or jump on the beds, windowsill, door, woodwork, vintage trunk etc. NO letting them on furniture or leaving them unattended in the cabin. Your reservation will be canceled if you leave your dogs in the cabin unattended! Take dogs with you when you go out, use the outdoor dog run or crates/kennels (available upon request). If you're willing to follow my pet rules, then be prepared to pay a pet fee of $20 per dog, two dogs max. Dogs will only be allowed if pet fees are paid in advance along with a $300 refundable deposit.

If you bring horses, it's an extra $10 per head per night to feed out of my barn. There's a lot of scrap wood for the campfire, but please be mindful about this privilege and keep use moderate and restricted to the steel ring inside the fire pit. Bring everything you would bring for camping except beds and bedding. You may want to bring your own dishes and cookware, but my kitchen campbox has just about every kitchen item you would need. I also provide hygiene and bathroom campboxes with towels and personal care items. The cabin also has a 2-gallon water container, hand soap, dish soap and hand sanitizer, plus a couple of basins for doing dishes or taking camp baths in winter when the outdoor shower and sink is put away. If there's anything you forgot or anything you need, don't be afraid to ask.

This is a rural neighborhood in snow country, and the drive includes 1.4 miles of gravel county road and 2 miles of paved county road. While the county does a good job maintaining the roads, guests may encounter snow-packed surfaces and the possibility of fresh snowfall before the county plows following a winter storm. Thankfully, there are no hills or curves to negotiate. I mostly commute with a front-wheel drive car with snow tires in winter, although I do also have a four-wheel-drive pickup that I can utilize as needed. I have a 1,200-foot-long, level driveway that we plow and maintain ourselves, but guests may have to deal with fresh snowfall until we are able to plow after a storm. I would recommend that guests be prepared for driving in snow, with good tires, front-wheel drive, all-wheel drive or four-wheel drive.

Sandpoint, Idaho, Jungtinės Valstijos

The Selle Valley is a very desirable neighborhood north of Sandpoint. The cabin sits in the heart of the valley where the land is zoned agricultural. When people come to my property, they love the rural setting surrounded by hay fields and views of two mountain ranges, the peace and quiet, and the beauty of the woods. No neighbors are within view; the closest neighbors are 800 feet away. The RV site is on the other side of the outdoor shower and faces east in the opposite direction; it shares the same driveway as the cabin. The host's house is about 250 feet away from the cabin and is not within sight. The cabin has its own driveway and faces west looking out to the yard, barn, woods and a large hayfield.

I'm a backcountry horse woman, downhill skier and bicyclist who loves the outdoors and being active. I retired in 2016 from working professionally as an editor for a local publishing company for 25 years, editing Sandpoint Magazine, Schweitzer Magazine and books, such as trail guides and natural history titles. I have one dog, Beau, whom I call a North Idaho hound terrier, an Arabian/quarter horse mare named Bunny, a filly named Karat born June 1, 2019, and a mule named Buner Pie. Originally from Wisconsin, I grew up in North Idaho riding horses, skiing, snowmobiling, dirt biking and voraciously reading books. While I was growing up in Sandpoint and Bayview in the 1970s-80s, I lived without electricity and running water three different times, so I'm not afraid of outhouses or roughing it. After graduating from Sandpoint High School in 1985, I moved back to Madison, Wisconsin, and earned a degree in journalism at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. I returned to Sandpoint in 1990, bought property, married, built a house, raised a son and stepdaughter, got unmarried, and am now married to my present partner, Mike, whom I convinced to join me in offering vacation rentals. We formed Twin Cedars Camping and Vacation Rentals LLC in 2014 with the goal of semi-retiring together. Between the two of us and our properties, we have two homes, five RV sites, a camping cabin and a tipi. We live in each of our homes for half the year, while the other home is open as a vacation rental. I'm a home brewer who's passionate about good beer, cooking from scratch, and seemingly endless home improvement projects. Mike is a private pilot, and we enjoy flying around the area and airplane camping, as well as backcountry trail riding and horse camping. I love having guests and sharing my knowledge of the area. We live in an outdoor paradise, and we like to share our pieces of paradise with others.
