An hour and 15 minute drive from the cottage. A short 30 minute drive away from Halifax is one of Nova Scotia’s best coastal hiking trails. When you overlook the Atlantic Ocean, you may spot coastal birds, sunbathing seals, and even wells. The area is a sensitive nature reserve, so please stay on the path and leave your dogs at home. The trail is rugged, so it is great if you were looking for a challenge. There are two light houses visible from the trail. Depending on how fast you walk the 8 km trail can take you anywhere from 3 to 5 hours to complete. If you get hungry after your hike, take a short 2 km drive to Mishoo’s Takeout, where you can get some of the best, fish and chips in Nova Scotia because the battery is so light. If fish is not your favorite Mishoo’s also makes a good pizza.

Stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean all along the hiking trail. I’d recommend sneakers or hiking shoes. No flip flops for this one! Young children could find parts of this hike challenging and you should allow for a few hours to hike in and out.

This stunning hike has the most beautiful views of the Atlantic ocean! Hike for a short while or pack a lunch and make a day of it. Sneakers are necessary. Along the way, stop and see some WW11 old bunkers!

A nearby taste that makes you appreciate the stunning power of the ocean. Bring a picnic and choose a rock to sit upon while admiring surf, seals, and occasional whales. Nothing much matter here.
