The Big Peninsula and Little Peninsula Tunnels are located on the Yarra River, you would have passed the signs on your way here. Big Peninsula Tunnel has tracks from the small car park, to either side of the Tunnel. A small picnic area is at the bottom of the stairway. The Goldfields Walking Trail starts nearby. There are picnic facilities at the Little Peninsula Tunnel car park.

Explore the gold mining past in the region. The Big and Little Peninsula Tunnels were created so miners could use water in the alluvial gold mining process. Pretty areas with swimming and site seeing.

Lovely for a refreshing dip on a hot day - don't head in for a swim if there has been a lot of rain though as the water can be fast and dangerous.

Great scenic spot on the Yarra. There is a fun log jump bridge that you use to cross the river to see the tunnel. Carpark 1km from McMahons Creek. The tunnel was dug in 1864 by alluvial gold miners.
