Aside from creative and local fare in restaurants, our community can provide you with home cooked frozen meals from a few fabulous purveyors.
Fabulous little restaurant with a great menu selection; veggie burgers, hamburgers, gluten free options, fish, steak all creatively prepared with love. A huge selection of artisanal beers and fantastic local music talent on the weekends. The coolest. They also have a bakery next door that is open on weekends for breakfasts and lunch and AMAZING breads, local jams and kombuchas etc and sweet things! Our very fave!

Wonderful little cafe and bar serving local food and pizza. It is attached to a small hostel/hotel with the same name. Luis knows how to make his clientele happy he has been open there for years. Right on Hard Rock!

Best hot sauces in Costa Rica only as good as the wonderful creative kitchen magic of Becca and Luke. Want a curry? Or an Osso Bucco pot pie? How about lasagne? All home cooked and ready to warm up in your oven. You might need a bit of macadamia pesto or mango chutney while you are there, and a bottle of Cardamom flavored kalhua to wash the whole thing down. Good place to buy gifts for your return as she has all sizes and your friends will be on the next plane to Costa Rica!

Katia and Edgar live right there, tend to their grass fed cows and make some of the most delicious healthy organic cheese you will have in Costa Rica. The specialty is all ages of Swiss cheese, but Katia has expanded her knowledge and is making Mozzarella, Goat cheese, both Cow and goat yogurt, grass fed butter, parmesan and more. Not only is the cheese delicious, but a visit with this beautiful family is something you will still be talking about when you get home (and she will pack up cheese to take back which is good to go with customs.) They also do tours of their farm, and cheesemaking demos.

Butterfly dome and a great little cafe

Amazing, gigantic dome where butterflies reproduce and float around this magical garden space. Great for kids and adults…Cafe is wonderful. Playground.

The cafe only gets good reviews and they make all sorts of stuff and will do it just or you. Also a fantastic playground for kids. You get a cappuccino and the kids can go a little wild! If you are lucky, the creator, Jose Lobo, will be having a coffee too and can regale you with his incredible stories of jungle living in Costa Rica since the 1990’s. The upstairs studio hosts yoga classes, belly dance and other movement classes.
