Welcome to The Black Bear Inn - gateway to your authentic Kootenay experience! This late-Victorian heritage home was built in 1901 and is steeped in history and charm.

Whether you’re planning outdoor adventures, a reunion with family and friends, a romantic getaway, or just craving a change of pace, The Black Bear Inn has been welcoming visitors from around the world for decades to outstanding reviews, and is the perfect homebase for your visit to Rossland B.C.

Būstas
We have three luxurious guest rooms, each uniquely decorated. Guests are welcome to book one room, two rooms, or all three rooms in the Black Bear Inn.

This booking is for our Gold Rush Room, which features a queen-size bed dressed in luxurious bed linens, a relaxing reading chair, electric fireplace and smart TV. A private bathroom is down the hall.

After a day outdoors, curl up by the fire in our lounge with a book, game or good conversation, or soak under the stars in our private hot tub.

Enjoy breakfast in our elegant dining room, which also doubles as a co-working space. If the digital world or remote work calls, hit the slopes and then hit the laptop with our high-capacity, unlimited business wifi. A fridge, microwave and dishes/cutlery are available for guest use. Coffee, tea, hot chocolate and drinks are always available.

The Black Bear Inn, named after one of Rossland's original gold mines circa 1897, was designed by architect J.J. Honeyman, who also designed Rossland’s historic courthouse. Many notable local figures have lived here over time, and you can see echoes of Honeyman’s late-Victorian design sensibilities throughout the house with its original Douglas fir floors, stained glass windows and stunning coffered ceilings. Now freshened with a clean contemporary palette and all the modern comforts of home, the house blends past and present to create a warm, friendly, relaxed and awesome ambience.

Superbly located with cross-country skiing, mountain biking, hiking and relaxed forest strolls right at our doorstep. We’re a seven-minute walk to Rossland’s quaint Main Street of boutiques and cafes, a seven-minute drive to Red Mountain (also shuttle accessible). Safe and secure storage for your skiis/boards/bikes is available on the property.

From things to do, places to visit, where to eat, we've curated our top recommendations for you, and are available to answer questions, offer hot local tips, and facilitate plans.

------OUR COVID PROTOCOLS------

Our COVID-19 protocols are intended to ensure you have a safe and comfortable visit. We are following Airbnb’s 5-step enhanced cleaning protocols, as well as the BC Centre for Disease Control and Ministry of Health’s recommendations for hospitality operators.

- Reducing our capacity to ensure every guest room has a private bathroom. We will only host up to two groups at a time, including your group. ***This is subject to change to reflect current Public Health Office Orders.
- Requiring mandatory face coverings in the common spaces, unless you are the only guests at the time of your visit (please check with us). Masks can be removed when you enter your private room/bathroom, and when you sit down to eat.
- Minimizing our contact with guests when possible, including contactless self-check in and check-out. Any staff that enters the guest side will be masked, sanitized and socially-distanced.
- Sanitizing common spaces daily when more than one guest group is present.
- Your room and bathroom and all common areas will be santized prior to your arrival. During your stay, no one other than you/your group will enter your guest room or bathroom.
- No outside visitors other than registered guests allowed on the property at this time.
- If there are other guests in the B&B during your stay, a hot tub and breakfast sign up is implemented to ensure no mixed groups in the hot tub or dining room.

If you have any questions, concerns or COVID-related requests, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

------HOT TUB-------
The Hot Tub is open during COVID-19. Guests are asked to sign-up for their hot tub time, to ensure only one group in the hot tub at a time, but are welcome to use the hot tub as often as desired!

------BREAKFAST-------

A self-serve, healthy and delicious breakfast buffet is available between 7:30 and 9 am. Outside of those hours, self-serve coffee and tea are available, as well as a fridge, microwave, toaster and dishes. An earlier or later breakfast may be available upon request.

Dietary needs or allergies? Please let us know at the time of booking so we can accommodate you. This is not a nut-free household. Please let us know if you have severe allergies.

-----OUR OTHER LISTINGS------

- The Entire Black Bear Inn. Includes all three guest rooms and exclusive use of the common areas. Your group will be our only guests at the time of your stay.

- The Centre Star Room, named after one of Rossland’s original gold mines. This room features a luxurious king-size bed, a cozy area with an electric fireplace, smart TV, a bay window overlooking the gardens and an ensuite bathroom with a heated floor.

- Monashee Room: A snug room with a view of the Monashee mountains. Decorated to mirror the violet hues reflected at twilight, this room offers a queen bed. This is a TV-free room...kick-back old school with a book, journal, or your good company. Or, stream your own entertainment on our high capacity wifi. Bathroom is down the hall.

----- A Mecca for Outdoor Enthusiasts -----
Known as the “Golden City” because of the massive gold deposits discovered here in 1890, our vibrant mountain town has entered a new Golden Age as a world-class outdoor adventure destination. In 2020, USA Today named Rossland the best ski town in Canada and the second best ski town in North America!

Rossland is home to Red Mountain - one of the largest ski resorts in Western Canada, Canada’s first chairlift and hometown of Canadian ski icon, Nancy Greene. Red Mountain is a main stop on the legendary Powder Highway serving up 750 cm/25 feet of deep Kootenay powder each year. It is also home to the world’s largest cat skiing operation - Big Red Cats whisks you to untracked glades and powder paradise.

You will also find cross-country skiing, mountain biking, hiking and relaxed forest strolls right at our doorstep. We’re a seven-minute walk to Rossland’s quaint Main Street of boutiques and cafes, a 7-minute drive to Red Mountain (also shuttle accessible) and quick and easy access to Rossland’s wide variety of activities including golf and the acclaimed Seven Summits mountain biking trail considered the crown jewel of Rossland’s trail network.
