Lanna Thai Villa is located in a quiet rural rice framing village typical of northern Thailand. A walk through the village allows one to experience the content and tempo of upcountry village life. Depending on the season guest can have the chance to try their hand at rice planting or harvesting or observing and participating in one of the numerous holiday or Buddhist ceremonies which mark the annual cycle. Numerous farm access roads provide good biking routes with mountain views. A little further afield one can take excursions to viewpoints overlooking the Lao border, marvel at the skill of Lue weavers or visit an all teak temple constructed over 100 years ago in the Shan style. Mpuntains form the backdrop to the Lanna Thai Villa neighborhood many of which have trails to the summit.

The Thai and American resident owners can offer you the opportunity both to observe and participate in local ceremonies and customs. Sermsri is a native of the village with a large extended family. Steve has been a continuous resident of Thailand for the past 27 years and was trained in geology and anthropology.archaeology. He worked as an engineering geophysicist and company airplane pilot before moving to Thailand to assist with the then ongoing refugee program. He later spent 20 years in Bangkok working on expressway and urban mass transit projects. Sermsri and Steve enjoy traveling with particular interests in trekking in Nepal and Ladakh, diving in the Maldives and enjoying the culture in Bali. Both of us welcome your interest and any questions you may have. As Lanna Thai Villa is our home we are in residence full time. In addition to preparing guest meals we are available to answer questions about the area and region and to help design and guide guests on local excursions. Cooking lessons are also available. We have accompanied guests on mountain bike tours and joined in on meals according to guest preferences or sat around the pool and shared travel experiences and destination information.
