THE CHAPEL OF THE VILLA
Incredible, unique, full of history... 166 square meter loft ... difficult to explain in words. The Chapel is a one-of-a-kind split level loft with a timeless character. On the ground floor there is the huge living room with design sofas and the dining area (with the famous Tulip table and the Panton chairs), where once stood the Chapel Altar. From the living room up to the mezzanine floor a beautiful staircase in iron and glass leads to the mezzanine, also in iron and glass, where we find the first room with a stunning round king size bed.
From the living room there's the access to the large kitchen area equipped with all comforts (dishwasher included). Then we find a second large double bedroom with the first bathroom in front of it and, climbing the stairs, a third double bedroom with the second bathroom next to it; it's really fantastic with an internal staircase and exposed beams.
The finishes are of the highest level: huge Murano chandeliers, original made in Italy design iron wardrobe, the floor is the original one dating back to the XXVII century, the bathrooms are all in marble, walls with stuccos, precious curtains ... The Chapel has a double independent entrance directly from the Park of the Villa. The spaces have been organized with the utmost attention to detail and functionality (50 SMART TV Netflix, Youtube ...). A free parking space is included inside the Villa.

THE HISTORY OF THE VILLA
I will be happy to host you at Villa Morosini Gatterburg Volpi di Misurata, one of the most important Hystocal Villas of Venice.

Flanked by the River Dese, the Villa dates back to 1562. Leonardo Mocenigo, a Venetian nobleman, began the construction on the design of the famous architect Andrea Palladio.

It was then acquired and expanded by the Morosini family starting from 1680.
It is located, coming from the Venetian mainland, in "Marocco" area, along the Terraglio, an ancient country road that still connects Venice and Treviso.
It was along this road that, starting from 1500, began the construction of sumptuous country villas by Venetian nobles and Doges of the Serenissima Republic of Venice.

In 1697 Fra 'Francesco Coronelli' wrote about the Terraglio: "Very comfortable, wide, flat, safe and well maintained road ... Two miles after Mestre you can see the sumptuous of the late Doge Sagredo. Continuing another thousand steps in Morocco we will meet that of the Doge Morosini Peloponnesiaco".

Here, the great Ammiraglio of the Venetian fleet Francesco Morosini stayed to rest and recover from the battles. He distinguished himself in the war against the Turks: between 1684 and 1688 he tore the Peloponnese from the Turks and that was why the Venetian Senate recognized him as the "Peloponnesian".

Immediately after these events he was elected Doge: he became the 108th Doge of the Serenissima Republic from 1688 until his death in 1694.

In 1799 Elisabetta Morosini last heir married the Austrian Count Paolo Antonio Gatterburg.

Later, in 1800, the noble residence was home to the Archdukes of the Asbugo-Lorraine family for various periods.

At the beginning of the 20th century the villa was bought by Count Giuseppe Volpi di Misurata, creator of the Porto Marghera industrial complex and of the Venice Film Festival.

After a long period of neglect, the Villa has returned to shine thanks to a recent major renovation and now it opens the doors to you.

Svečio prieiga

Villa Volpi is a unique place and has a long fascinating history, dating back to the XVII Century. It was originally the residence of Doge Francesco Morosini, the "Prime Minister" of the Serenissima Repubblica di Venezia, when Venice was an international force and a trend setter for culture. In the early XX Century it was owned by Count Giuseppe Volpi di Misurata, creator of the Biennale Movie Festival in Venice. After a long period of neglect, the Villa has returned to shine thanks to a recent major renovation and it now opens the doors to you.
