Moncarapacho, Portugalija

Fuseta is a quaint fishing village with a rustic feel. In the summer it is a bustling place with many bars, cafes and restaurants offering a variety of choice including the famous BBQ Chicken and Sardines and a dine in or take away Pizzeria.

Within a 10 minute walk of the townhouse is the local shop which sells all of your essentials, with a large supermarket for your more specific needs, just a further 10 minute walk. Both shops are open long hours every day. There are also several other speciality shops to include butchers, bakeries and a shell-fish counter.

The village also offers a local Post Office, Pharmacy, Bank and several ATM points.

Fuseta's small lagoon beach is within 15 minutes walking distance of the apartment and offers a quiet and safe haven for families with younger children with its calm waters and lovely beach bar (Borda d'agua) from which you can watch the world go by. The beach also benefits from Life Guards. Access is here from the small marina to the Island Beach which is a short ferry ride away. Once on the Island Beach there is an opportunity to learn a new watersport with the availability of paddle boarding, kite surfing and kayaking. You can also book for several excursions by boat including dolphin watching and trips to the Islands around Fuseta to explore further afield.

Every July there is a festival in honour of our Lady of Carmo. It is a religious festival in which a statue or our Lady of Livramento is taken out on the water in search of our Lady of Carmo, the ceremony acting as a blessing for the town's fishermen for the coming year. Many boats participate in the procession and are decorated with flags and flowers and sounding their horns or hooters. The procession leaves the harbour in Fuseta and goes as far as the barra - the gap between the islands, via which the fishing boats reach the open ocean. The whole village is out in force and is a sight to see!

There are also play parks and an artificial football pitch, an area where the locals play boules and at night in the peak of the summer the whole place is buzzing with families socialising and live bands playing.

Fuseta also has two train stations. The regular train runs along the coast of the Algarve allowing you to explore places such as Tavira and Olhao. Fuseta 'A' station is a 10 minute stroll from the apartment.

The area is ideal for families with lots to see and do or couples seeking a quiet getaway. You can visit the traditional neighbouring towns and villages using the train or by bike. Cycle hire is available locally. The location of the apartment gives direct access to a cycle/walking track which follows the coastline and is ideal for keen walkers, bird watchers or those who enjoy some gentle exercise coupled with the peace and tranquility that the area has to offer.

Pronounced 'ol-ee-ow', is a busy modern town with a gem of a waterfront. Its fishing port is the most important in the eastern Algarve and its fish market is the largest. Olhao's shopping complex (Ria shopping) includes 80 shops, a large supermarket, restaurants/bars and a cinema. There is also indoor kart racing located in the underground car park area.
Olhao also has a new Auditorium.
Olhao has many shops, restaurants and an entire summer festival devoted to sea food. Ameijoas - the king of clams - are both grown and eaten in abundance and are a 'must-try' entreé, as are conquilas. Olhão offers many traditional Algarvian features. The pedestrian shopping area winds through cobbled streets to the Moorish old town and to the waterfront with markets, cafe's, parks and sparkling views out over the Ria Formosa lagoons. From the pier, you can take boats to the island villages and beaches of Armona, Culatra and Farol - all great day trips. The official visitor centre for the Ria Formosa nature reserve is just outside Olhão. It's worth a visit to see: the restored tidal mill (of which there were once many in the Ria Formosa), the bird life, and the chance to spot the very rare symbol of the park, the Purple Galinule.
The Sea Food festival takes place in August and half of the water front gardens are closed off and turned into a gastronomic and entertainment delight. The sea food is plentiful and excellent, the entertainment is top class and the organisation great. Its a hugely popular event and deservedly so. Don´t miss it if you are here at the time.

The old market town of Moncarapacho still has the old meeting square, where you can enjoy a meal or drinks with the locals. Its calm, unhurried atmosphere is the true Portuguese experience for the perfect location to explore during your holiday. With festivals held regularly throughout the summer with live music and dancing.
The town offers all the necessary facilities; banks, post office, internet, supermarkets and other shops, petrol station, meat/fish/vegetable market, restaurants and plenty of pavement cafés. It even has its own tiny museum and pottery.

Tavira, 20 minutes away by car is a wonderful mix of the unexpected and the unusual. You will find a 13th century castle, the old gate of the city, a Camera Obscura, a magnificent Roman bridge, a beautiful garden with bandstand, and the old market hall which has been converted into a cafe/restaurant and craft shops' area. Then, there are the numerous churches for which Tavira is famous. Pick up your fresh fish, fruit and vegetables from the new indoor market and admire the salt pans where the famous Tavira salt is harvested. A picturesque ferry trip takes you to the island of Tavira from the riverside in the town, during the summer, or from the four aquas' jetty, in the winter.

Faro, the capital of the Algarve is a great place to visit for its history, particularly attractive is the old part of the city still surrounded by the Roman walls. It is the home to the city's archaeological museum. The "Golden" church contains the Macabre Spectacle of a chapel lined with the bones of 1,200 monks!
Walk through the quaint streets and in shops, traditional and old or simply while away the day relaxing in the cafes/bars. Down at the harbour there is always the hustle and bustle of the boats and the occasional fisherman.

We set the arrival time at your holiday home to be any time after 1600.  This is to allow us time to prepare the holiday home for you. We are extremely flexible in that we will try and prepare the holiday home to coincide with your flight arrival time. But we can not guarantee this will happen. We are also happy to allow you leave baggage at the holiday home whilst the property is being prepared allowing you to get the most out of your holiday.
We ask that you carefully read the holiday home manual we will send you before the start of your holiday, as this contains all the contact information of the Manager who will be meeting you and looking after you during your holiday.
Our Manager will be expecting a telephone call from you on arrival day. The Manager will only attend the property after that phone call in readiness to meet you.  We do not have a reception and each guest is met personally. If we have more than one client at once arriving we will let you know and ask that maybe you give us a little time. Maybe pop for a coffee and we can call you when we are ready to meet you. Our Manager will like to spend some time with you explaining how appliances work in the holiday home and let you know about the local area and will be happy to answer any questions you might have.

We set the departure time at 1000. We ask for your departure details or plans once you leave us. This way we can schedule our holiday home preparation for the next guest just like we did for you. If we can offer a later stay during the winter months we will try and accommodate you.  In the Summer months due to the high volume of guests we have to strictly adhere to the 1000 departure time at the latest.
