The neighborhood
Fuseta, according to the earliest historical accounts dating from 1572, was known as "Fozeta" (diminutive of foz) which would have had its origin in the fact that a river called "brook of the trunk" would flow there.
The main activity of this village continues to be fishing and its derivatives, with tourism nowadays, due to the beach, close to the island of Armona-Fuseta and to the campsite that welcomes hundreds of visitors in the summer.
Land of fishermen, it still conserves many of its houses in a cubic form, topped by terraces - the roofs - with the curious balloon chimneys, typical of this area of the Algarve.
The Mother Church keeps some good images of the century. XVIII. Its churchyard is a lookout over the village, with vast horizons of the estuary and the sea.
The fishing port, colored by the boats, as well as the beach and all the riverside area, whose environmental recovery was recently awarded, are obligatory visits.
It is said here "the sun wakes up and falls asleep wrapped in shades of fire". Huge expanse of fine sand that, besides being privileged with a beautiful sunset, has excellent water quality. The crossing of the estuary is done by boat from the locality of Fuzeta.
